intro - 1830m

.

recently i got hold of a few albums from a few of noted musicians and idol groups, so why don't we talk about them?

and if you're talking about idol groups, AKB48 should be on that list

1830m slayed the chart (wait, they are still slaying) by selling more than 600 thousands copies on it's first day (and easily slayed Mr. Children double best albums for the yearly chart...) what's with the so much hype and attention? prolly because this is the LAST AKB48's album with Acchan in it. Acchan? that girl was never my oshimen (and never will), but she's somehow decent enough to be the ace, winning a lot of popularity polling among the members. And with her graduation, it's somehow signaled as the beginning of a new face of AKB48, seeing that maybe other senbatsu'd consider graduating too. It's just sad that some girls graduated quietly when this gal took months to graduate (i remembered the announcement was sometime early this year, duh), with a lot of singles in between and an album dedicated to her leaving, and don't forget Gingham Check! i felt it was getting old, you know, like those gadzillion teasers of EXO without the actual debut (but they got their debut, finally, and no, i couldn't careless about that group)

Fortunately she'll leave for good, don't forget to watch the AKB theater concert on 27th August 2012, live streaming on their google+ account!

on to the album, they got 2 cds with a lot of songs in it. Here's the tracklist!

too many songs! I know, they're after all, an old idol group and has been around for longer than ponytail to shushu. Well, most of them are idol songs, you know, fruity and bubbly songs with tacky arrangements and average cutesy vocals. I'll just comment on a few of them.

i really like Kaze wa Fuiteiru, so it was the first song i heard from the album, and prolly the most decent pop song in the album imo. No matter what you say, i love this song the most in AKB48's songbook

other song of highlight should be Everyday, Kachuusha. Forgive me for sounding just like those wotas out there, but this song really got me dancing inside lol. The song itself is catchy and the vocals weren't trying that hard to blend in (they just fit in perfectly). Safe for your ears and good for a mood booster, who wouldn't want that?

unusual for an idol group's album, Romance Kakurenbo is a midtempo track that caters to listeners who like enka. The way Miyu sang it... it is just unusual. The song is somehow sounded a bit old, it's like the song in Seiko Matsuda's era, and it's not pure enka. Sorry, my affinity to enka is zero, but i could tell it was a beautiful song. And the unusual song has an unusual placement, it is placed between bubbly fast paced pop rock songs...

Jung ya Freud no Baai is a strings filled ballad love song with pretty good harmony of the girls' vocals. I still don't get why they bring Jung & Freud into their story -__- don't let the lyrics distract you lol. The song is perfect for a slow afternoon or sad night. But from tsubomitachi to this song is a very drastic mood change, and Flying get after.... I can't even...

Plastic no Kuchibiru from Shinoda Mariko (oh my dear) is a good groovy techno music, i'm surprised AkiP didn't make a whole technopop album for her (seeing even Tomochin and Acchan got solos...). Her voice was auto-tuned the whole song, but it wasn't bad, in fact i think she's good at it. C'mon AkiP, she may beat Perfume (too hopeful... but hey, a girl can wish, right?)

And the highlight of the group, Acchan, performed the last song of the album, a perfect closing song of the lengthy (and somehow tiresome...) album and her career throughout the years in AKB48. It's ballad and slow in tempo, a good song because it didn't make Acchan straining to reach notes. Though i can't say the same for her in Omoide no Hotondo, because Acchan just isn't that good in vocal to sing that kind of song. But honestly i prefer the whole group version than Acchan's version... Maybe they'll use the song to close her stage later? between this and Sakura no ki ni narou.... or maybe Itterashai! Aozora yo sounds nice too

overall it's a good album for an idol group, of course you can't set a very high expectation just because it's selling so well, after all AKB48 is about entertainment. Their sound is a tad bit too generic, but at least they tried to reach the outer fanbase with a few different songs.

your oshimen or not, this album is the showcase of the girls' hardwork, of how they finally got through to where they're now, and those senbatsu played a bigger role in making the AKB48's fame grew bigger. A whole album dedicated to them is no big deal. And poor Sashi for getting transferred to HKT48 before their big day...

is it just me or does GIVE ME FIVE sound like canon in D? and oh boy Gu~Gu~ Onaka sure is cute!
