i told you i'd read Pandora Hearts again
and a lot of scenes broke my heart, i think i died a little inside.
those 25 episodes only covered 8 volumes, and the Sablier episode wasn't even there, Oz never got to face Zai in the manga and they picked it up with a lot of sadness.
Just pure sadness.
Even the sometimes SD characters and a little joke here and there couldn't lift up the sadness.
Let's take a look at the first dead character, Eliot Nightray. Never knew that he was in contract with Humpty Dumpty, he killed a lot of Nightrays without even knowing, and later when he remembered, no Nightray left except his self-centered father (later killed by Vincent) and the old badgers Vincent-Gilbert.
Gilbert Nightray, he forgot everything from his past, serving Oz only and thought of fending off the Baskervilles when he was actually a Baskerville and almost got to be the next Glen. He kept getting betrayed from a lot of people, even from that bastard Jack. And now that Leo is a full fledged Glen, Gilbert couldn't resist any order from him, even when he was ordered to shoot Oz. And no he haven't died.
and to me, the saddest of all was the story of Oz Vessalius. He was actually a black rabbit doll given to the core of Abyss by Lacie. And he was the B-Rabbit chain! That crazy huge monstrous black rabbit who doesn't like killing people and destroying things! How that happened was still beyond me, i mean, he was born as human, and Alice was in the Abyss, so how come Oz was the chain, and who made contract with who? It was messy and too much to handle. Yes i did hope that Oz got stronger, but not this kind of strong...
oot, but Alice and the will of Abyss were twins, so Blood+, and yes it was typical #SeeIToldYouSo. Maybe the story will go like Saya and Diva all over again.
What's fascinating for me was how difficult it was to find the villain here, you know, the pure typical just evil villain looking to conquer the world. Behind every character there was a reason to his/ her behavior. A lot of them were sad, and it's just difficult to hate whoever that was made to be the 'villain'. Like the Baskervilles were rejects and victims of bullying before the Abyss found and converted them, or Glen's reason for killing the whole city was so that the people wouldn't be converted to chain once they got into the Abyss, or Vincent's reason for every sick move he made so that Gilbert could live a life without him, and of course, the ultimate latest story revealed, Jack's reason!
Yes, even when the sudden 180 degree turn of Jack's background story got revealed, it was just sad. Yes he's despicable, yes he's stupid, yes he's just too immersed in his own world, but he's somehow... sweet.
and yes, i can't believe i wrote that o_O
anyway, now i understand why they put that 'tragedy' tag on it. Pandora Hearts is a manga of tragedy. I've never had my emotion stirred so greatly just by reading a manga.
salute to you Jun!
m(_ _)m i'm thankful for this m(_ _)m
