Majalengka Day 321 : Higashino Keigo Mysteries part 1

.

Higashino Keigo Mysteries is a very vexing drama that tried too hard to be interesting by using Higashino Keigo's name in its title

the stellar casts, you know too well the reason i watched this drama...

Well, if what people said about Higashino were true, i'd really like to kill the productions staffs myself for ruining the supposedly very good mystery stories. But you know i can't really compare, these kinds of books aren't exactly my forte.

Well then. Let's move on to the first story. The death of Nakai Kiichi.

"I am dead. bla bla bla"

And then we had his ghost giving endless exposition in each episode, for every opening and ending. It wasn't that interesting. Well, at first it was, because he told us about every character who arrived in the crime scene, especially about their possible motives and involvement in his murder. But then he tried to connect his current situation with the short story in that white little book. It was like a little insight of important things in every mystery, like some kind of template in each plot, which was really unnecessary. But let him lead the way, otherwise there wouldn't be any connection between the episodes.

Then he reached that little white book.

Ok, the real first story then. The first episode, themed around infidelity. Because the first one to arrive apparently had affair with him. Damn unfaithful guy. He had it coming.

Sayonara Coach

The opening was a video of a girl's last will. Last will, because it looked like she was gonna do suicide. A little bit too sophisticated though. Gone are the days where people do suicide the normal and easy way. Instead we got this wiring and pills in combination, sleeping first before the electricity reset her heart's rhythm. Why didn't she just overdosed on the pills? it was waaaay easier than the wiring.

Tanaka Rena as Mochizuki Naomi, aka the archer girl, aka the suicidal girl

She was a member of the archery club. She dreamed about going to Olympics with her coach, but she failed, and did an attempt at suicide. Later the coach found her and intervene. Thus the beginning of their love affair.

the lead, Karasawa Toshiaki as Ishigami Junichi aka the Coach. Adultery is for everyone, even if you're not good looking.

Later the girl became obsessive, possessive, and somehow sasaeng. the Coach was cornered, because Naomi wanted him to divorce his wife. He thought it was a temporary fling. She was dangerous, so he thought. And later he staged the exact same setting for her 'suicide'. Kudos for his effort though.

the first of a few pair of detectives who were actually useful. The old guy liked to clap.

After a few reruns, the detectives noticed something different in settings between the supposedly last will and the current condition of the crime scene. He was old, but he had a good pair of old eyes! They interrogated Ishigami and got his confession.

Later though, Ishigami realized that Naomi was willingly involved in his setting, as if she had known about his intention. Poor girl... Also stupid coach for not noticing it earlier.

And yeah, not thrilling enough. This first episode pretty much gave a glimpse of the later episodes in this ultra boring drama.

Moving on to the 2nd story.

The night of the murder where there was no murderer

A kid killed his female private tutor. Oh kids these days, they easily kill for trivial things i guess. Panicked, the wealthy family of the kid decided to keep the matter a hush hush and asked for the help of other private tutor in the vicinity.

the lead, Sakaguchi Kenji as Sato Takuya, aka the twisted private tutor, yay for funky

well, after a little bit of persuasion, Takuya agreed to help with a huge load of money as payback. He literally robbed the dad, because he asked for a lot. Discussion went a little lengthy, and everyone was cranky.

Takuya - the killer - mom - older brother - dad. Gosh kids these days, i told you so

Then with the help of the older son, they dumped the body. Later Takuya cleaned the deceased's room, and there was a framed photo of him. Okay, something fishy here.

Sometimes later, a guy came over looking for the deceased, saying that he was her brother. No one said a word, and did a lot of things indicating they didn't know the girl. After he went to the police, the detectives came over and found discrepancies. Again, another pair of useful detectives.

he made the whole room into his own precinct

oh come on! This was hilarious, they were all sitting there quietly like they've all been decided as guilty, and this detective screamed his questions out... He didn't have any warrant, and his theory didn't have any hard evidence... They all could kick him out easily. Fool!

After a digging a little deeper, and i dunno how he got his theory, it turned out that the killing was staged. It wasn't even a real killing, and it was done to blackmail the family. They were rich, and Takuya was ready to go on a trip with his girlfriend. But a little bit deeper again and we found out that Takuya really killed the girl!

Yagi Nozomi as the dead female private tutor, aka ex-girlfriend of the lead, seriously looked like Tomochin

The reason behind him killing the girl? It was silly. You'd prolly be stunned and think 'WTF?' But this is a Japanese drama. This time everything can be solved with killing each other.

oh gosh it's so lengthy. Let's save it for later then.
